Garden Leaves to Cordage: Twine Making – Monday, November 3rd, 10:30am-12pm

$30.00

Instructor: Ashley Daly
Location: Teaching Garden
Date: Monday, October 6th, 9-11am

Join gardener and artist, Ashley Daly, in learning to use leaves from the garden to make your very own twine! Yes, rope, cordage, string! We’ll take dried iris and daylily leaves and twist them together into lengths of twine using an ancient and simple technology. You'll leave knowing all the steps to harvesting and preparing the leaves as well. Humans have been making twine for 70,000-100,000 years. This practice can be traced back in ancestries across the world and can provide an experience that connects us to our histories and our earth. Plus it’s super fun. And you can use it to tie things, wrap presents, or make things like baskets or bags.

This workshop is perfect for artists, gardeners, and anyone who enjoys fiddling with their hands. All materials provided (though if you want to keep at it at home, now is a great time to save your or your neighbor’s iris and daylily leaves. Just be sure they can fully dry by hanging or laying them out.).

Space is limited and preregistration is required. This workshop is $25 for Tulsa Garden Center members. Non-members $30.
